Description
Viral Transport Media
VTM Kits are specially formulated for the collection and transport of virus.
Designed to solubilize and maintain optimal conditions for viral sample transport.
Viral transport medium contains Hank’s balanced salt solution with phenol red indicator to ensure the integrity of the medium at the time of sample collection.
Provides protective proteins and antibiotics to inhibit microbial contamination, and buffers to control pH.
For the collection and normal temperature transportation of various viruses and related samples such as coronavirus, influenza virus, hand, foot and mouth virus, measles and rubella virus.
It can quickly inactivate the activity of viruses and enzymes.
At the same time, it can protect the nucleic acid of the virus from being degraded for 4 days at room temperature, which is convenient for sample transportation and off-site detection.
Features:
- It contains a rapid virus inactivation reagent, which can inactivate various DNA viruses and RNA viruses within a few minutes, making them infective.
- Contains high-efficiency enzyme inactivation reagents, which can quickly inactivate various enzymes including DNase and RNase. And remove the hidden danger of degrading nucleic acids.
- It contains a special nucleic acid protection agent and stabilizer, which can make the released viral DNA and viral RNA without obvious degradation within 4 days at room temperature.
- Stored and shipped at -20°C.
- For the collection, preservation and transportation of various swabs, including oral swabs, throat swabs, nasal swabs, vaginal swabs, etc.
- Inactivated and not suitable for virus culture.
Instructions:
NOTE: Although this product contains a virus inactivator, we cannot rule out virus contamination when sampling centrifuge tubes.
This product is antibacterial, but we cannot rule out that it will not be contaminated when dispensed into the sampling tube.
Proper sterilization should be performed before and after we dispense.
Before sampling, mark the relevant sample information on the label of the sampling tube containing the virus preservation solution.
The specific sampling method is as follows:
- Nasal swab: Gently insert the swab head into the nose palate, stay for a while and then slowly turn to exit.
- Throat swab: Use a swab to wipe the pharyngeal tonsils and posterior pharyngeal wall and withdraw.
- Urethral sampling: For males, insert a swab into the urethra with a rotation of approximately 2 cm, and withdraw after a few seconds of rest. For women, wipe away cervical mucus, insert a swab 1-2 cm into the cervical canal and exit.
- Other swab sampling: This manual does not provide details.
Quickly place the swab into the sampling tube containing the virus preservation solution and swirl in the sample tube for 15 seconds.
